HETROFEN TC Tablet
Aceclofenac 100 mg,Thiocolchiside 4 mg Film Coated Tablets
HETROFEN TC Tablet is a combination medication that contains Aceclofenac (100 mg) and Thiocolchicoside (4 mg). It is used primarily for pain and inflammation management in musculoskeletal disorders.
Use & Indications:
HETROFEN TC is used for:
Pain and Inflammation: It is commonly used in conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and spondylitis.
Musculoskeletal Conditions: It's effective in treating muscle spasms, back pain, and other musculoskeletal disorders due to its anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxant properties.
Post-Surgical Pain: Often prescribed after surgery to reduce pain and promote mobility.
Mechanism of Action:
Aceclofenac (100 mg):
Class: Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID)
Action: Aceclofenac works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2). These enzymes are responsible for producing prostaglandins, which are chemicals that cause pain, inflammation, and fever. By reducing the production of prostaglandins, Aceclofenac helps to alleviate pain and reduce inflammation.
Thiocolchicoside (4 mg):
Class: Muscle Relaxant
Action: Thiocolchicoside acts on the central nervous system to reduce muscle spasms by inhibiting spinal reflexes. It helps in relaxing the muscles and reducing stiffness.
Dosage:
Adults: Typically, one tablet of HETROFEN TC is taken twice daily (morning and evening).
Maximum Dose: The maximum recommended dose is one tablet twice a day, but the dosage may vary depending on the severity of the condition and the physician’s recommendation.
Side Effects:
Common side effects can include:
Gastrointestinal Issues: Nausea, dyspepsia (indigestion), abdominal pain, or diarrhea.
Headache or dizziness
Rashes or skin reactions
Liver enzyme abnormalities in rare cases
Renal issues (kidney problems) if used for prolonged periods or in high doses.
