Lins Gel Pain Relieve Ointment is a topical analgesic used to relieve pain and inflammation.
Ingredients:
Diclofenac 1%: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that helps reduce inflammation and pain.
Methyl Salicylate 10%: A Salicylate compound with pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties, commonly used in topical treatments.
Menthol: Provides a cooling sensation, which can help soothe pain and relax muscles.
Linseed Oil 3%: natural oil that may have anti-inflammatory properties and is commonly used to improve skin hydration.
Benzyl Alcohol 1%: Acts as a preservative and also has mild analgesic and local anesthetic effects.
Uses and Indications:
Lins Gel is used for the relief of:
Pain relief associated with muscle and joint conditions (e.g., arthritis, sprains, strains, tendonitis).
Inflammatory conditions such as osteoarthritis, bursitis, and tendinitis.
Muscle soreness and stiffness (e.g., after exercise or physical activity).
Joint pain and inflammation in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis.
Mechanism of Action:
The ingredients work in the following ways:
Diclofenac (1%): Inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), which play a key role in producing prostaglandins, compounds that promote inflammation and pain. By reducing prostaglandin production, it alleviates pain and inflammation.
Methyl Salicylate (10%): When applied topically, it acts as a counterirritant, providing a warming sensation that helps distract from underlying pain and promotes blood flow to the affected area.
Menthol: Creates a cooling effect, stimulating sensory receptors in the skin and providing a sense of pain relief. It also helps relax muscles.
Linseed Oil: Moisturizes the skin and may have some anti-inflammatory properties, which complement the other active ingredients.
Benzyl Alcohol: Helps to preserve the formulation and may also have mild anesthetic properties, numbing the area slightly.
Dosage:
Application: Apply a thin layer of the ointment to the affected area 2–4 times a day, depending on the severity of the pain and inflammation.
Amount: Generally, a small amount (about a pea-sized portion) should be used per application.
Massage: Gently rub the ointment into the skin until it is absorbed.
Note: Always follow the instructions provided by the healthcare provider or the product label.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include:
Skin irritation: Redness, burning, or itching at the site of application.
Rash: Allergic reactions such as rash or swelling can occur in some individuals.
Photosensitivity: Increased sensitivity to sunlight may occur, so avoid direct sun exposure or tanning beds.
Blistering or peeling skin (in rare cases, particularly with overuse).
If any of the following symptoms occur, stop use immediately and consult a healthcare provider:
Severe rash or itching.
Breathing difficulty (possible allergic reaction).
Swelling of the face, lips, or throat.
Contraindications:
Lins Gel should not be used in the following cases:
Hypersensitivity or allergy to any of the ingredients, particularly Diclofenac, methyl Salicylate, menthol, or any NSAIDs.
Open wounds or broken skin (it should only be applied to intact skin).
Breastfeeding: Use with caution and consult a doctor before using, as Diclofenac can pass into breast milk.
Children under 12: Not recommended without a doctor's guidance due to potential risks.
Drug Interactions:
Anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin): Topical Diclofenac may increase the risk of bleeding or bruising, especially if used with blood thinners.
Corticosteroids: Combining topical NSAIDs and corticosteroids may increase the risk of skin thinning or other local skin reactions.
Other topical medications: Avoid using with other topical products that can irritate or dry out the skin.
