Each hard gelatin capsule contains:
Cephalexin IP (equivalent to anhydrous Cephalexin) – 500 mg
Uses & Indications:
GRECEF 500 Capsule is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections, including:
✔ Respiratory tract infections (pneumonia, bronchitis)
✔ Ear, nose, and throat infections (tonsillitis, otitis media)
✔ Skin and soft tissue infections (cellulitis, abscesses)
✔ Urinary tract infections (UTIs, cystitis)
✔ Bone and joint infections (osteomyelitis)
Mechanism of Action:
Cephalexin, a first-generation cephalosporin, works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death.
Effective against Gram-positive and some Gram-negative bacteria.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: 250–500 mg every 6–12 hours (as prescribed).
Children: Dosage based on body weight (25–50 mg/kg/day in divided doses).
Duration: Complete the full course even if symptoms improve.
Side Effects:
Common side effects may include:
Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting
Stomach pain, indigestion
Skin rash, itching
Vaginal yeast infection (rare)
Contraindications:
