GRESOR Gel
GRESOR Gel is a topical medication formulated to provide relief from pain and inflammation associated with mouth ulcers and related conditions. It combines three active ingredients:
-
Choline Salicylate BP 8.7% w/w: A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces pain and inflammation by inhibiting the release of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins).
-
Lignocaine Hydrochloride IP 2% w/w (also known as Lidocaine): A local anesthetic that blocks pain signals from the nerves to the brain, decreasing the sensation of pain.
-
Benzalkonium Chloride IP 0.01% w/w: An antiseptic agent that helps prevent infection in the affected area.
Uses and Indications:
GRESOR Gel is primarily used to treat:
-
Mouth ulcers
-
Denture irritation
-
Cold sores
It provides symptomatic relief from pain, swelling, redness, and burning sensations in the oral cavity.
Dosage and Administration:
Apply a small amount of GRESOR Gel directly to the affected area using a clean fingertip. One application is typically sufficient. Use up to four times a day. Avoid consuming food or beverages for at least 30 minutes after application to allow the gel to take effect.
Mechanism of Action:
-
Choline Salicylate: Reduces pain and inflammation by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins.
-
Lignocaine Hydrochloride: Provides local anesthesia by blocking sodium channels, thereby preventing the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses.
-
Benzalkonium Chloride: Acts as an antiseptic, reducing the risk of infection in the affected area.
