JORONAC MR Tablet

Each Film Coated Tablet Contains:

Diclofenac Potassium 50 mg, Paracetamol 325 mg,Chlorzoxazone 250 mg 

 

Diclofenac Potassium

It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, analgesic & antipyretic, drug. Diclofenac inhibits prostaglandin synthesis by interfering with the action of prostaglandin synthetase which explains its action.

It is ideally suited for patients on sodium free diet, hypertensive patients, to treat painful inflammatory conditions of patients on diuretic therapy.

Indications/Use of Diclofenac Potassium

  • Post operative & Post traumatic inflammation

  • muscular and skeletal pain and other co-existing conditions like spondylitis, Rheumatoid arthritis & Osteoarthritis

  •  Painful inflammatory conditions in Gynaecology

Dosage of Diclofenac Potassium

50mg 3 times daily.

Contra-Indications of Diclofenac Potassium

Peptic ulcer, known hypersensitivity to the active substances, acetyl salicylic acid or other prostaglandin synthetase inhibiting drugs.

 

Paracetamol

(Acetaminophen)Paracetamol is a valuable central analgesic but weak peripheral anti-inflammatory agent & exhibits good & prompt antipyretic action. It does not stimulate respiration, or alter acid base balance & causes less gastric irritation & have no effect on cellular metabolism or clotting factors. It is not uricosuric.

Indications/Use of Paracetamol

  • Pain

  • fever

Dosage of Paracetamol

325 MG -1 GM upto 4 gm daily in divided doses.

Special Precautions of Paracetamol

Renal and hepatic impairment.

Side Effects of Paracetamol

Nausea, Rashes, leucopenia is rare.

Drug Interactions of Paracetamol

Enhances oral anticoagulant activity. Absorption increased by metoclopramide. Absorption reduced by pethidine, propanthline. Alcohol (chronic use) potentiates hepatotoxicity by paracetamol.

 

Chlorzoxazone

This compound is chemically unrelated to mephenesin and the other relaxants, nevertheless its pharmacological actions and uses are similar to them.

Indications/Use of Chlorzoxazone

Skeletal muscle spasms

Dosage of Chlorzoxazone

250-750 mg, 3-4 times daily.

Contra-Indications of Chlorzoxazone

Hypersensitivity, pregnancy

Special Precautions of Chlorzoxazone

Discontinue if symptoms of liver dysfunction occur. Paediatrics: Reduced dose is necessary. Pregnancy: Safety not established. Lactation: Use with caution and only if clearly indicated. Elderly: No special problem.

Side Effects of Chlorzoxazone

Gastro intestinal irritation, headache, lethargy.

Drug Interactions of Chlorzoxazone

CNS effects enhanced by other CNS depressants such as alcohol.
