Betamethasone valerate is a strong corticosteroid. It reduces irritation and inflammation of the skin. Neomycin is an antibiotic. RIDE NC cream is used to treat skin conditions including; eczema, psoriasis, severe insect bites and other types of rash. The cream will reduce swelling and protect the skin from infection.

Corticosteroids, such as betamethasone are anti-inflammatory medicines. Skin becomes inflamed when the body releases inflammatory chemicals in response to an allergen or irritation. These chemicals cause blood vessels to widen, causing the surrounding skin to swell and become itchy and painful. Corticosteroids prevent this by inhibiting cells from releasing large amounts of these substances.

Neomycin is an antibacterial medicine. It prevents bacteria from producing the proteins they require to survive, killing the infection. Certain inflammatory skin disorders have a high risk of becoming infected, so this component can become very important for successful treatment. This is especially the case as any airtight dressings used to cover the affected areas creates conditions very conducive to fungal and bacterial growth.

Clotrimazole is used to treat skin infections such as athlete's footjock itchringworm, and other fungal skin infections (candidiasis). This medication is also used to treat a skin condition known as pityriasis (tinea versicolor), a fungal infection that causes a lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs. Clotrimazole is an antifungal that works by preventing the growth of fungus.

Use and Indication of Ride NC Cream

  • Beclomethasone: This is a corticosteroid used to reduce inflammation and itching in various skin conditions.
  • Neomycin: An antibiotic that helps prevent or treat bacterial infections.
  • Clotrimazole: An antifungal agent used to treat fungal infections.

This combination cream is often used to treat skin conditions where there is a need to manage inflammation, bacterial infections, and fungal infections simultaneously. Common indications include:

  • Tinea infections complicated by secondary bacterial infections.
  • Eczematous infections where fungal and bacterial infections are present.

Side Effects

  • Beclomethasone: Skin thinning, stretch marks, easy bruising, and telangiectasia (small red or purple dilated blood vessels). Long-term use can lead to systemic effects such as adrenal suppression.
  • Neomycin: Allergic reactions, contact dermatitis, and skin irritation. Prolonged use can cause skin sensitization.
  • Clotrimazole: Skin irritation, burning, itching, and redness.

Dosage

  • Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area 2 to 3 times a day. The exact dosage and frequency should be tailored to the specific condition and severity as per a healthcare provider’s instructions.

Mechanism of Action of Ride NC Cream

  • Beclomethasone: Reduces inflammation by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators and suppressing immune responses.
  • Neomycin: Works by interfering with bacterial protein synthesis, thereby preventing bacterial growth.
  • Clotrimazole: Inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, leading to fungal cell death.

Contraindications of Ride NC Cream

  • Beclomethasone: Contraindicated in individuals with viral, bacterial, or fungal infections of the skin unless treated with appropriate agents.
  • Neomycin: Should not be used in individuals with a known allergy to neomycin or other aminoglycosides.
  • Clotrimazole: Contraindicated in individuals with a known hypersensitivity to clotrimazole or other azole antifungals.

Drug Interactions of Ride NC Cream

  • Beclomethasone: Minimal interactions when used topically, but systemic absorption may occur with prolonged use.
  • Neomycin: May interact with other antibiotics and can affect gut flora, potentially impacting the absorption of oral medications.
  • Clotrimazole: Can interact with some oral medications, especially those metabolized by the liver, though topical use has fewer systemic interactions.
