Mefenamic Acid 100 mg, Paracetamol 250 mg / 5 ml Suspension

MIPPO P DS Suspension

MIPPO P DS Suspension, produced by Green Cross Remedies, combines Mefenamic Acid (100 mg) and Paracetamol (250 mg) in a 5 ml dosage to provide effective relief from pain and fever. Ideal for children and adults, this suspension is suitable for conditions such as headaches, muscle pain, and dysmenorrhea. Review dosage recommendations, potential side effects, contraindications, and drug interactions to ensure safe usage.

Composition:

  • Mefenamic Acid: 100 mg
  • Paracetamol: 250 mg per 5 ml

Uses:

MIPPO P DS Suspension is indicated for:

  • Relief of mild to moderate pain (headaches, toothaches, muscle pain)
  • Reducing fever
  • Menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea)

Mechanism of Action:

Mefenamic Acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, thus reducing pain and inflammation. Paracetamol acts centrally in the brain to alleviate pain and reduce fever, providing a complementary effect for effective symptom relief.

Dosage:

  • For adults: 10 ml (equivalent to 200 mg of Mefenamic Acid and 500 mg of Paracetamol) three times daily, or as directed by a healthcare professional.
  • For children: Dosage should be determined by a physician based on weight and age.
  • Shake well before use.

Side Effects:

Possible side effects may include:

  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Stomach upset or pain
  • Dizziness or headache
  • Allergic reactions (rash, itching)

Contraindications:

MIPPO P DS Suspension should not be used in individuals with:

  • Known hypersensitivity to Mefenamic Acid or Paracetamol
  • Active gastrointestinal bleeding or peptic ulcers
  • Severe liver or kidney dysfunction
  • History of asthma or allergic reactions to NSAIDs

Drug Interactions:

Use with caution alongside:

  • Anticoagulants (e.g., Warfarin)
  • Other NSAIDs or corticosteroids
  • Alcohol (increases risk of liver damage with Paracetamol)
