YODON PLUS TABLET

Each Uncoated Tablet Contains:

Domperidone IP 20 mg
Paracetamol IP 500 mg Tablet

Domperidone IP 20 mg, Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) 500 mg is used to treat migraine. It prevents pain signals to reach the brain to reduce pain. It also blocks certain substances in the brain that trigger nausea or vomiting during migraine headaches.

Uses of YODON PLUS Tablet:

  1. Relieves Pain and Fever:
    • Paracetamol, the primary ingredient in Yodon Plus, is widely used to reduce fever and alleviate mild to moderate pain, such as headaches, menstrual cramps, toothache, and muscle pain.
  2. Prevents Nausea and Vomiting:
    • Domperidone is a medication that helps in preventing nausea and vomiting by blocking dopamine receptors in the gastrointestinal tract, making it effective in reducing symptoms like nausea associated with other drugs, motion sickness, or gastrointestinal disorders.

Indications:

  • Pain relief (e.g., headaches, toothaches, menstrual cramps, mild to moderate pain)
  • Fever reduction (used for fever due to various infections or conditions)
  • Anti-nausea and anti-vomiting treatment (due to Domperidone)

Mechanism of Action:

  • Domperidone: Works as a dopamine antagonist. It blocks dopamine receptors in the gut and the chemoreceptor trigger zone in the brain, which helps prevent nausea and vomiting.
  • Paracetamol (Acetaminophen): Works by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the brain. This reduces pain and lowers fever. It is thought to work mainly in the central nervous system and has minimal anti-inflammatory effects.

Dosage:

  • The typical dosage for YODON PLUS Tablet is 1 tablet 2-3 times a day or as prescribed by the healthcare provider. It should be taken with or after meals to avoid any potential gastric irritation.

Note: Always follow the prescribed dosage and consult a healthcare professional if the dosage needs adjustment based on your condition.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Yodon Plus Tablet may include:

  • Gastrointestinal issues: nausea, dry mouth, abdominal discomfort, or diarrhea.
  • Central Nervous System effects: headache, dizziness, drowsiness, or fatigue.
  • Allergic reactions: rash, itching, swelling of the face or throat.
  • Other effects: prolonged use may lead to liver damage or kidney issues, especially with higher doses of paracetamol.

Contraindications:

Yodon Plus Tablet should be avoided or used with caution in the following conditions:

  1. Allergy to Domperidone or Paracetamol: Individuals allergic to either component should not take this medication.
  2. Severe liver dysfunction: Paracetamol can affect the liver, so individuals with liver issues should avoid it.
  3. Prolonged QT interval: Domperidone can affect heart rhythm and should be avoided in patients with known heart issues.
  4. Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Domperidone is usually avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to potential risks.
  5. Kidney issues: Caution is required if you have kidney disease as both drugs can stress renal function.

Drug Interactions:

Yodon Plus may interact with the following medications:

  1. Anticholinergic drugs: May enhance the anticholinergic side effects of Domperidone.
  2. CYP450 Enzyme Inhibitors (e.g., Ketoconazole, Erythromycin): These drugs may increase the levels of Domperidone, increasing the risk of side effects.
  3. Blood thinners (e.g., Warfarin): Paracetamol may increase the effect of blood thinners.
  4. Alcohol: Excessive consumption with paracetamol can increase the risk of liver damage.
  5. Other analgesics/antipyretics: Taking other painkillers (e.g., NSAIDs) along with Yodon Plus may increase the risk of adverse effects.
