G-MOXIL CV DS DRY SYRUP 457 MG/5 ml
Amoxicillin trihydrate – Potassium clavulanate QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION G MOXIL CV DS suspension 457 mg/5 ml contains 400 mg amoxicillin (as amoxicillin trihydrate) and 57 mg clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate) per 5 ml.
PHARMACEUTICAL FORM Dry powder for reconstitution in water, at time of dispensing, to form an oral sugar free suspension. CLINICAL PARTICULARS Indications G-moxil CV DS Dry Syrup should be used in accordance with local official antibiotic-prescribing guidelines and local susceptibility data. G-moxil CV DS suspension ( 457mg/5 ml), for twice daily oral dosing, is indicated for short term treatment of bacterial infections at the following sites when amoxicillin resistant beta-lactamase producing strains are suspected as the cause. In other situations, amoxicillin alone should be considered.
Upper respiratory tract infections (including ENT) e.g. recurrent tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis media. Lower respiratory tract infections e.g. acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, lobar and bronchopneumonia. Urinary tract infections e.g. cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis Skin and soft tissue infections e.g. cellulitis, animal bites. Dental infections e.g. severe dental abscess with spreading cellulitis. Susceptibility to G-moxil CV DS will vary with geography and time (see Pharmacological Properties, Pharmacodynamics for further information).

This medicine inhibits the bacteria from multiplying, thereby arresting their growth. It is also given as an empirical therapy in conditions where the infection-causing bacteria is unknown and as a preventive (prophylactic) antibiotic therapy.
It may be given alone or along with some other medicines. Your child may start to feel better within 2 to 3 days of regular dosing. For best results, finish the full course of the medicine without stopping abruptly as doing so may lead to ineffective treatment and worsen your child’s condition.

Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid is a combination penicillin-type antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. G MOXIL CV DS Dry Syrup is a penicillin-type of antibiotic that helps your body fight infections caused by bacteria. It is used to treat infections of the lungs (e.g., pneumonia), ear, nasal sinus, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissue. It will not work for viral infections such as the common cold.
G MOXIL CV DS Dry Syrup is best taken with a meal to reduce the chance of a stomach upset. You should take it regularly at evenly spaced intervals as per the schedule prescribed by your doctor. Taking it at the same time every day will help you to remember to take it. The dose will depend on what you are being treated for, but you should always complete a full course of this antibiotic as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking it until you have finished, even when you feel better. If you stop taking it early, some bacteria may survive and the infection may come back or worsen.
The most common side effects of this medicine include vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea. These are usually mild but let your doctor know if they bother you or will not go away.
Before taking it, let your doctor know if you are allergic to any antibiotics or have any kidney or liver problems. You should also let your healthcare team know about all other medicines you are taking as they may affect, or be affected by, this medicine. This medicine is generally regarded as safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding if prescribed by a doctor.

This combination medicine can be used to treat many different bacterial infections such as ear, sinus, throat, lung, urinary tract, skin, teeth, joints, and bones. It usually makes you feel better within a few days, but you should continue taking it as prescribed even when you feel better to make sure that all bacteria are killed and do not become resistant.
